Origins:
Grown in the Far East, East Indies, India, Jamaica, Brazil and China. It was considered by the people of ancient times to be one of the most important aromatic spices. Legend says that King Solomon was given Cinnamon Leaf by the Queen of Sheba and was one of the spices used to anoint the Ark of the Covenant, which were said to contain the scrolls of Jewish holy law.
Cinnamon has a distinct hot, peppery taste and aroma. It is the twigs and leaves which are distilled to produce a bittersweet pungent essential oil which is dark browny-yellow in colour.
