Commonly used for treating:
Acne, Catarrh, Tension
Origins:
The original Cedarwood came from the Lebanon. Cedarwood oil, similar to Sandalwood, was used for embalming in ancient Egypt. Unfortunately the original Lebanon Cedar has been over-felled for furniture and is now very scarce so the red Cedarwood, which comes from North America, is now used in its place.
The clear, syrupy essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the waste wood and has a woody smell similar to lead pencil shavings.
Therapeutic Effects:
Often used for skin complaints such as acne, alopecia, dandruff and eczema. Very good for catarrhal conditions, particularly bronchitis. Also acts as a diuretic for help in urinary infections.
Cautionary Note:
May cause skin irritation. Do not use during pregnancy. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. If ingested seek medical help. Can irritate if used undiluted. Store in a cool dark place. There may be other cautions not listed.
